3 TAKE TOP HONORS - Olin-coun seled Junior Achievers were among those cited for outstanding work in the 1976 Transylvania Junior Achievement program. Olympian Enterprises, sponsored by Olin and duPont, was cited as Company of the Year and won the Best Annual Report award. The Trade Fair award was won by Salemore, counseled by Olin and Bendix. Olin advisors were Dr. V. D. Chapnerkar, George Reynolds, Robert Hayes, David Robertson and Ron Davis. OUTSTANDING SAFETY HONORS ARE ACCORDED PISGAH FOREST PLANTS Top safety honors came in second quarter to both Ecusta Paper and Film divisions: Ecusta won two of the country’s highest honors for its 1975 program, and new all-time records were set by the Pisgah For est cellophane plant which was sin gled out to represent the Fine Paper and Film Group in the Best in Olin competition. Production Director Frank Mc- Gibboney accepted for all Ecusta employees the trophy representing the C. C. McPike Memorial Safety Achievement Honor. The Ecusta plant was chosen over 96 other paper companies for the award presented at the Southern Pulp and Paper Assn, meeting in Or lando, Fla. Ecusta led 632 other companies to win the National Safety Council’s Award of Honor for first place in all paper mill competion. The Award of Honor is the council’s highest form of recognition. The Pisgah Forest cellophane plant also gained top national recog nition for its 1975 program and broke its earlier record for injury- free worker hours. When the plant exceeded 3,500,000 worker hours without a disabling injury, its longest stretch in 25 years of opera tions, employees were advised by John D. Link, vice president and general manager, that they would be awarded individual jackets em- blementic and symbolic of 25 years of outstanding safety. Ecusta employees received jackets earlier this year for setting new world safety records. Both Pisgah Forest plants won the W. C. Creel Award of Excellence. Ecusta won the North Carolina De partment of Labor’s Safety Award for overall performance, for the third consecutive year; and the Endless Belt Department won the Safety Award for the 10th consecu tive year. In addition to the National Safety Council’s Award of Merit, the Film plant at Pisgah Forest was pre sented three awards for being named Best in Group: a permanent award for the year selected, a tra veling award which the winning plant keeps one year, and a cor porate award. He also was employed by the Grinelle Co. and General Elevator Co. before working with the former Ecusta Paper Corp. He is married to the former Nettie Stockton of Macon County. Their three sons are Dr. Jerry Cabe, Bre vard dentist; Bob Cabe of Smith field, sales engineer with Dayton Rubber Co.; and Tom Cabe of Fort Worth, Tex., vice president in charge of sales for the Dickey Co. Mr. and Mrs. Cabe live at 608 Probart Street in Brevard. They at tend the First Methodist Church.
